Kia Soul and Sorento Headlight Failure
McCune Law Group, is investigating claims for a potential class action related to headlight failures of 2011-2019 Kia Sorento and 2014-2015 Kia Soul vehicles. Vehicle owners have reported sudden failure of headlights, intermittent loss of headlights, and flickering headlights. The headlights may fail or malfunction while driving or stationary. This can lead to costly repairs, including replacements of the headlight bulb, assembly unit, and wiring harness.
In June 2020, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened a Preliminary Evaluation to investigate allegations of headlight failures in 2014-2015 Kia Soul and 2011-2019 Kia Sorento vehicles.
In addition, NHTSA is currently investigating headlight failures in 2011-2013 Kia Sorento vehicles. The agency states: “The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 74 reports of sudden, unexpected loss of headlights in model year 2011-2013 Kia Sorento vehicles. The cause of the problem may be related to thermal overload of the connectors. Complainants allege both headlights fail while making a turn or traveling on the highway at any speed. Reports allege the headlights can turn off for some time until it corrects itself or the driver turns the vehicle off and on again. Some vehicle owners complain they have taken the vehicle in to dealerships for service several times, but the problem has reoccurred.”
