Ford Explorer Power Steering Failure Investigation

McCune Wright Arevalo, LLP, is investigating claims for a potential class action related to power steering failures of 2011-2013 Ford Explorer vehicles.

In 2014, Ford issued a safety recall for certain model year 2011-2013 Ford Explorer vehicles. It stated that “the affected vehicles may experience an intermittent connection in the electric power steering gear, which can cause a loss of the motor position sensor signal resulting in a shut down of the power steering assist.” However, this recall was limited to Ford Explorers assembled at Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant from 2011 through February 28, 2012 and failed to include many vehicles experiencing the same power-steering failures.

Ford’s failure to perform a thorough safety recall has left thousands of vehicles on the road that may be affected by the same power steering defect. Hundreds of owners have complained that they were left with a costly bill to repair the defective steering mechanism because their vehicle was not included in the recall.
