Water Contamination at Camp Lejeune

McCune Law Group, (MLG) is investigating the need to bring legal action against the United States Marine Corps over water contamination at North Carolina base Camp Lejeune which has now been linked to the development of many severe illnesses and birth defects in those who lived on base. MLG is proud to be home to Partner and Marine Corps Major Cory Weck. Major Weck sees the greatness that the military can represent. He believes the organization must be held to a higher standard to better serve its members who have put themselves on the line for this country.

Since 1942, Camp Lejeune served as a military training base for Marine Corps members. Its strategic location along miles of beaches and between the two major port cities of Wilmington and Morehead City made it an ideal place for Marines to practice amphibious drills. Thousands of Marines and their families lived and worked at Camp Lejeune over the course of its 80-year history.

Our Marines deserve better. If you’ve be impacted medically by drinking contaminated water at Camp Lejeune between 1953 and 1987, contact MLG today to see if you’re eligible for recompense.

Decades of Improper Chemical Disposal Cause Water Contamination at Camp Lejeune

Since at least 1953, base operations at Camp Lejeune allegedly improperly disposed of toxic chemical solvents. Rather than finding a safe place to dispose of the solvents, disposal teams allegedly buried the chemicals near the base water wells. In 1972, the base was warned to change their methods out of fear of water contamination at Camp Lejeune. Unfortunately, the damage was done.

From 1953 to 1987, Marines and families on base bathed in, cooked with, and consumed water contaminated with chemical solvents. In 1982, researchers discovered water contamination in the water at Camp Lejeune as a result of these dangerously disposed of chemicals of years past. In the mid-1980s, an EPA investigation into potentially radioactive waste buried near water wells at the base ordered that all base water be shut off. However, the military began supplying water to the base once more in violation of this order.

If you were based at Camp Lejeune from 1953 to 1987 and have developed a major illness, had a child with a birth defect, or have miscarried, you may be entitled to justice. Contact MLG by completing the form to schedule a consultation.
