Navient Corporation Student Loan Class Action Investigation
McCune Wright Arevalo is investigating a class action lawsuit on behalf of individuals who borrowed student loans from Navient Corporation, formerly part of Sallie Mae. On January 18, 2017 the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced that Navient has acted illegally to cheat borrowers out of the ability to lower their repayment of student loans. The CFPB investigation found that Navient used its subsidiaries Navient Solutions and Pioneer Credit Recovery and General Revenue Corporation in order engage in illegal practices that force borrower’s loans to unnecessarily go into forbearance, charge extra money in late fees and interest, and generally disseminated misleading information about when student loans will go into default. Recently, the CFPB partnered with the Washington and Illinois Attorneys General to file a complaint against the company. If you borrowed student loans from Navient or Navient is your student loan servicer, please contact us.
